FAQ
What are the mediums used for the artwork?
Our artwork is available in three mediums: acrylic, canvas, & archival paper.
What is an acrylic print?
The latest HP latex ink are used to print directly onto acrylic. HP states that their latex prints, kept indoors, can last up to 200 years under ideal conditions. Of course “ideal” storage conditions probably aren’t the case in most people’s home, however, keeping the print out of direct sunlight, and out of excessive humidity will help ensure good longevity. Unlike paper prints, direct-to-acrylic prints are less susceptible to damage from humidity.
What is a canvas print?
Giclée print on Frederix Satin Canvas, high-quality, acid-free and pH neutral base. The bright-white poly-cotton canvas with a traditional two-over-one weave is printed with Epson UltraChrome® GS3 9-colour system and stretched on 1.5 inch frame.
What is an archival paper print?
The paper prints use acid-free archival paper printed with archival inks which are specifically designed to be resistant to weathering and fading so that it will last for a long time. Best practice is to hang any artwork out of direct sunlight. Large prints require mounting on a smooth surface to prevent rippling over time. Mounting can be provided at an extra cost or can be done by a framing company of your choosing.
What is an Limited Edition?
Artwork in this edition will only ever be ten prints produced of each image regardless of the size or medium used. The edition number will be recorded on the artwork (ie 1/10). Once the edition sells out, there will never be another reprint of that photograph.
What is a 1/1 Pearl Edition?
Artwork in the Pearl Edition are limited to a single hand-selected signed print as well as ownership of the oyster shell used to create it. Artwork in this exclusive edition will enrich your space with a story that is truly one-of-a-kind!
What is an Open Edition?
This editions includes carefully created Oyster Art images that have no limit on the number of prints an image will have available for sale.
Are custom sizes available?
Although there are a wide range of pre-selected sizes available but sometimes a different space will better suit a space. Custom sizes are available for all of our print editions. Please contact us for more information.
I’m unsure about what size and image would work best. Can you help?
Yes, help is available. In the past there have been clients who were purchasing a piece of artwork but were having difficulty visualizing it on their wall. Sometimes it is a challenge for them to determine a size and for others it is trying to choose between their favorite images. To assist with their decisions they send a photo of the wall they are planning to use and some measurements. Perhaps the artwork will hang above a piece of furniture so providing the dimensions or placing something in the photo that is easily measured. Keep in mind that colours viewed on a monitor are created by light making them brighter than colours printed with ink. Also, unless calibrated the colours displayed vary differently from monitor to monitor. These photos show an example of a client’s livingroom with vaulted ceiling (note standard size sheet of paper on sofa to provide scale), sample placements of artwork, and actual 60×40 artwork on wall.
Do you offer discount pricing?
Yes. If you are an industry professional or corporation please contact us directly for pricing considerations for images in the Open Edition.
